Back on the trailer again 9 July

After missing a tide or two Maureen was gently lowered onto her trailer by the tide at 1:15am on Wednesday 9 July.  After a few hours sleep onboard as the tide dropped we hauled her up the shallow beach to just above the HW mark using Sandys Tractor and various winching systems. We spent some time digging the front wheels into the beech to level the boat to make working and sleeping on her easier.
Now our refit can start! All to be finished by the end of the month for CARGO1 (sailing exhibition)
Some of the jobs include re varnishing , re painting, (includind mast) refit Bow with double berth, new chainplates and fix the leaks. Also Fit new stove.

Wonderful to see the work in progress. My two brothers and I were children on board Maureen in the early to mid 1970s when she was berthed at Camper and Nicholson's Marina in Gosport, Hampshire. She seems to have travelled somewhat! It's obvious you love her as much as we did. Good luck with the continuing restoration!

I am Jo's mother and we bought Maureen in the 1970s. She was built by Percy See in his Fareham Boat Yard in the 1920s I think. We had great fun sailing her around the Solent with a Puffin dinghy on the coach roof for the children to sail in when we were at anchor. She had a thumping great Lister Diesel engine which thumped and rattled and nearly shook the boat to pieces. On one disasterous day she nearly sank because the keel bolt under the engine had worn through to a needle. Had to be replaced. You have done so much work and it's lovely to think she is still alive and well and loved. I remember crying when she sailed away out of Portsmouth Harbour to Cornwall I think.
